1975 Norton 850 Commando
The Norton Commando was in production from 1967 to 1977 and was very popular around the world, and still remains one of the most iconic British motorcycles of the the 20th century. The Commando quickly became popular, despite having a rather small team of engineers with limited resources and a minimal budget. Regardless, it is arguably the most desirable motorcycle in the world.
In 1975, the gear shifter went from the right side to the left side to appeal to the American market. It has pre-unit construction, which means the transmission and engine are two separate parts as opposed to being part of the same case. This configuration allowed for a forward center of gravity, more space for the airbox which is situated behind the carburetors, and a raked appearance.
